The product

What is PitchMagpie?

PitchMagpie is open-source proposal software. You build a proposal from your own templates and library of reusable sections, send each client their own link, see which sections they read and for how long, and let them choose optional extras, sign, and pay a deposit, all on one page.

Is PitchMagpie really open source?

Yes. The whole application, the web app and the API, is developed in the open on GitHub. You can read the code, see exactly what's tracked and stored, and contribute changes.

How much does PitchMagpie cost?

£12 per user per month billed yearly, or £15 month to month, with every feature included and a 14-day free trial. Clients and recipients are free. See pricing.

How do I know if a client has read my proposal?

Every person you send a proposal to gets their own link. PitchMagpie records when they open it and how long they spend on each section, and shows it to your team live, so you can see that the client is on the pricing page right now, or that the finance contact never opened it.

Can clients sign proposals online?

Yes. Signers type their name, draw a signature, or upload a photo of one. You can have several signers, in a set order if you like. Once everyone has signed, each person gets a signed PDF with an audit trail, and each signature is tied to a SHA-256 fingerprint of exactly what was signed.

Can I take a deposit when a proposal is signed?

Yes. Ask for a percentage of the upfront total or a fixed amount, and once everyone has signed the client pays by card through Stripe Checkout. Each workspace connects its own Stripe account, so money goes straight to you. PitchMagpie takes no fee on top of Stripe's.

Does PitchMagpie work with my other tools?

It posts proposal news to Slack and Microsoft Teams, brings Xero contacts in as clients and drafts a Xero invoice when a proposal is won. There's also a REST API with workspace API keys and signed webhooks for proposal events, so you can connect anything else.

Who is PitchMagpie for?

Anyone who wins work with a written proposal: agencies, design studios, freelancers, consultants, developers and other service businesses that quote for projects or retainers.

Can I host PitchMagpie myself?

Yes, for personal and non-commercial use, free. Businesses that need it on their own infrastructure can buy a commercial licence, from £500 a year. Most teams use the hosted app, so backups, upgrades and email deliverability are looked after for them. See open source.

Security and data

Who can open a proposal link?

Each recipient gets a private link of their own, so every view and signature is tied to the address it was sent to. For sensitive work you can also ask for a six-digit access code that you share some other way than email.

What stops someone signing an out-of-date version?

The client's page carries a version of the proposal. If your team changes it after the page loaded, signing is refused and the client is shown the new version to look at again.

Can I export or delete our data?

Workspace owners can download everything as a zip (every record as JSON, signed PDFs, images and signatures) and delete the workspace. Anyone can download what's held about them and delete their own account.
