PitchMagpie
E-signatures

Signed on the same page they read.

No separate signing tool and no second email. Clients sign the proposal itself, and everyone gets a signed PDF with a full audit trail.

Three ways to sign

Signers type their name, draw their signature, or upload a photo of one. Uploaded signatures are converted to grey on white, cropped and shrunk to a few kilobytes. The typed name is always recorded too.

  • Any number of signers
  • A set signing order if you need one
  • People who just get a copy, without signing

Ask for what you need, with the signature

Add a "Fields to fill in" section to collect answers from each signer: a purchase order number, a start date, an invoice address, initials against the terms. Required fields are enforced and checked on the server.

  • Text, long text, date, number, email, tick box, choice and initials
  • Assigned to a particular signer, optionally required
  • The first signer's answer can fill one of your variables

A record you can rely on

When someone signs, PitchMagpie takes a SHA-256 fingerprint of exactly what they were shown, including the options they chose, the variable values (frozen at the first signature) and their answers. The fingerprint is stored with the signature and printed in the audit trail.

If your team edits the proposal after the client opened it, signing is refused and the page reloads with the new version for them to look at again. Nobody signs something different from what they read.

The signed PDF

Once every signer has signed, the proposal is marked as won and the signed PDF follows, with a page for each signer's audit trail: when they opened it, when they signed, the address it was sent to and the fingerprint. Proposals can't be signed after their valid-until date.

Are electronic signatures legally binding?

Simple electronic signatures like these are widely used for business agreements in the UK, the EU and the US. Some documents need more formal signing, so check what applies to your contracts.

Questions

Frequently asked

How do clients sign a proposal?

They open their link, pick any options, fill in any fields you've asked for, and sign by typing their name, drawing, or uploading a photo of their signature.

Can more than one person sign?

Yes. Add as many signers as you need, in a set order if you like. The proposal is won once every signer has signed.

Do clients need an account to sign?

No. Each recipient's private link is all they need.

What's in the audit trail?

For each signer: the address the link was sent to, when they opened it, when they signed, their answers, and a SHA-256 fingerprint of what they signed.
